What does your family look like? Do you have littles, elementary aged kids, teens?? It is my hope that this page will provide some ideas for movies for all kinds of families.
Will every movie on this page be appropriate for your family? Probably not.
When it comes to family movies, all families have different standards of what is considered appropriate. I strongly encourage parents to check everything out before viewing. It only takes a minute to check content.
Also, because these movies have not yet come out, I can’t officially recommend them to you. My purpose is to provide information about upcoming movies. It is up to you as parents to decide what is appropriate for your family to see.
Always – Always check content before you buy tickets!
These are the two sites I use to check content:
imdb.com (Enter your movie/TV show…scroll down to Parent’s Guide and click View Advisory Content)

** Clearly some of these movies are more appropriate for teens than young kids. Be sure to check content using the handy links above! **
The Lego Batman Movie – PG – Release Date February 10, 2017
Bruce Wayne must not only deal with the criminals of Gotham City, but also the responsibility of raising a boy he adopted. If you saw and liked The Lego Movie, I’m guessing this will be right up your alley, too. Great voice talent: Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Zach Galifianakis, Ralph Fiennes, and more!
*UPDATE* We saw this movie and it is just fantastic! I laughed out loud several times. LOVED all of the literature references and nods to other movies. There was one line that was inappropriate and we wished wasn’t there. It would likely go over most kids’ heads (which begs the question…why was it put in a kids movie?!)

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (live action) – PG – Release Date March 17, 2017
Gah! I get chill bumps watching this every time! Click here for more live action remakes that Disney has in the works: 11 Disney Live Action Remakes
*UPDATE* We are so very sad that Disney has chosen to add and publicize what is is calling “an exclusively gay moment” in the movie. As my son said, ” “When you’re describing your CHILDREN’S movie, the word ‘sexuality’ should not be there.” (he was responding to the film’s director’s comments). This is a children’s movie that has been intentionally altered to preach a message of indoctrination. We will be watching it when it comes out on Redbox and talking at length about it. Our choice to avoid it in theaters is our one small way of “voting” against Disney’s choice.

Power Rangers – Not Yet Rated – Release Date March 24, 2017
A group of high-school kids, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world. It seems like they’re trying to get away from the cheesy nature of the series. Funny, though, we saw this trailer first in the theater, and when the logo comes up at the end, finally revealing the title, there was a collective giggle.

Wonder Woman – Expected Rating PG13 – Release Date June 2, 2017
Based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The Amazonian princess-warrior Diana left her lush tropical island to dwell in our urban cityscapes of glass and steel. Tutored in the ways of the Greek warriors, and outfitted with incredible gifts bestowed upon her people, she becomes Paradise Island’s emissary to civilization. Let me say, I thought that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was the best part of Batman vs. Superman. (I even set her theme song as my ringtone!) This is a far cry from Linda Carter’s rendition, and I love it!

Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage! Kind of dark teaser, if you ask me.
