The craziness of our society has been filling my newsfeeds this week, so let’s just lump all of these together. (We’re ending with something encouraging, so take heart!) Have you heard about these goings-on? I feel it’s important to share stuff like this because I think that a lot of us would prefer to live in our little bubble of like-minded folks. (Not slamming the bubble…I love my bubble). But the truth is, from inside our bubble it can be hard to really believe that society is becoming what it is becoming.
Here’s what I’ve been reading:
Students protest to demand resignation of professor for opposing segregation … at Media Research Center. You did not read that title incorrectly.
Students furious over release of video depicting them going berserk on campus … at Daily Caller. These same students got pretty upset when someone spliced together a video showing their nonsense. *Note: this video contains some offensive language (the ‘f’ word, specifically)
Duke Divinity Crisis: The Documents are Out .. at The American Conservative. This highlights a series of exchanges between campus staff and might be amusing if not so ridiculous. Essentially, people completely lost their minds when someone dared suggest that a scheduled diversity training would be a waste of intellectual time. If you want to see smart people bicker with big words, this one’s for you.
White-Owned Restaurants Shamed for Serving Ethnic Food … at Reason.com. So far they’ve shut down one food truck and are attempting to shut down more restaurants.
“These white-owned businesses hamper the ability for POC [people of color] to run successful businesses of their own (cooking their own cuisines) by either consuming market share with their attempt at authenticity or by modifying foods to market to white palates. Their success further perpetuates the problems stated above. It’s a cyclical pattern that will require intentional behavior change to break.”
Illinois purges social workers and foster families who don’t “facilitate” transgenderism … at The Federalist. “The state of Illinois will not tolerate ‘exposing’ the vulnerable children in its care to people who believe human beings are either male or female and cannot ‘become’ the other.” This breaks my heart.
Court rules parents can file wrongful birth lawsuit saying they wish their child had never been born … at Life News. Despicable and disgusting. Parents suing the doctor not because he caused a defect in their child, but because he didn’t identify it pre-birth so they could abort. The saddest thing, to me, is that they did not give this child up for adoption so he could be raised by parents who would want and adore him.
New law allows government to take children away if parents don’t accept kids’ ‘gender identity’ … at The Blaze. This is regarding a law just passed in Ontario, Canada. Even scarier, if you ask me, is another point in this law, which removes parents’ protection to “raise their children under their own umbrella of faith”.
You aren’t being ‘shamed’ just because we expect you to be a civilized adult … at The Matt Walsh Blog. OK, here’s where we turn the corner from ridiculous and depressing to ridiculous and funny. You need this after the pit of despair we’ve been wading through above.
And on that note, let’s end with the most uplifting thing I’ve seen all week. A piece that reminds us that our efforts are not in vain, we should not give up, and most importantly, that GOD IS GOOD!
Missionary died thinking he was a failure; 84 years later thriving churches found hidden in the jungle … at God Reports
*A brief disclaimer…I found these particular articles read-worthy. That doesn’t mean that I agree with or advocate everything on the site on which individual posts appear.

Duke Divinity Crisis: It is a tragic shame when I read this arrogant betrayal of our U S Constitution, First Amendment, and other Old and New Testament free speech rights guaranteed to all,and by a Duke University Divinity School professor. She should be ashamed.

I’m with ya, Lisa. I did a Constitutional literacy course with a study group of homeschool teens a couple of years ago, and it was mind boggling how far we’ve strayed. It’s definitely made me notice some of the overstep that I see.

In the case of “wrongful birth” lawsuits, where’s the proof the doctor KNEW there was an abnormality?? Furthermore, given what we now know regarding the hazards of the mandatory (toxic) flu vaccines pregnant mothers are given, isn’t it reasonable suggest That as the culprit in the first place? Let us further consider the myriad of hazardous (Supreme Court finding) vaccines mandated for the child during the first three years of its existence outside the womb.

Yeah, it seems that the suit stems from the parents saying that the doctor should have known. I’ve read other articles that say that this particular defect isn’t identifiable, so I agree…I don’t know how the doctor could be held liable. The sad thing, in my opinion, is that parents would do this at all. Give the poor child up for adoption, there are parents out there who would love and want him.
