The Sparrow’s Home is featured in the September 2018 issue of Parents Magazine! I was interviewed for a piece on tips from homeschoolers that non-homeschooling families can utilize. We’re very excited around here about the shout out, needless to say, and thrilled that you stopped by!
Welcome!
When the online issue is up, we’ll link to it here. Until then…If you’d like to read more, check out the related posts below.
I do something called ‘strewing,’ which is consciously putting books and other things out for the kids to discover. My niece once said that she loved using the bathroom at my house because she always learned something.

I shared some ideas on keeping your kids on track with their schoolwork, taking breaks to let out some physical energy, and more. And, of course, lots of things we talked about in the interview didn’t make the final piece, like my favorite Nature Studies that any family (homeschool or not) can use.

How sweet–Thanks so much, Bette!
That is so cool that you’re featured in Parents Magazine! You have arrived!!! I love the idea of strewing. Genius! Even though I don’t homeschool, I’m always looking for ways to incorporate learning into our home.
Thank you, Allison. It’ll feel more like I’ve “arrived” when the big bucks start rolling in. LOL I’m of the opinion that every family is (should be) homeschooling in some way…learning should be happening all the time. We just choose different tools to formally educate our kids. Thanks again!!
