Chicken & Noodles in the Slow Cooker: A perfect example of the whole being so much more than the sum of its parts

May 31, 2024 by Susan Leave a Comment

This simple recipe for chicken & noodles in the slow cooker comes out tasting like old fashioned comfort food. Almost in chicken & dumpling territory, this dish is certain to hit the spot.

This recipe is stupid simple.

And it is so, SO good. My eyes are closed and I am sighing a little thinking about it. That’s how good it is.

You need to make it.

Beef Brisket Recipe: Low, Slow, Simple and Perfect Every Time

July 27, 2020 by Susan 4 Comments

This recipe for braised beef brisket is surprisingly simple and turns out amazing every single time. Flavorful and tender, this one’s going to wow you!

I’ve been making Pioneer Woman’s brisket recipe with my own tweaks for years.  When I made it recently for a family gathering, my sister (who had never made brisket before, nor tried mine) said, “Why isn’t this recipe on your blog?”

Good question, Amy.  Here ya go!

7 Pinterest recipes that are as delicious as they look!

October 14, 2019 by Susan 4 Comments

Finding recipes that you love is kind of exciting, isn’t it? We’ve all had our Pinterest “fails” in the past.  These are seven recipes that we tried and loved and I think you will too.  Easy and delicious. Big thumbs up on these Pinterest wins!

With my picky kids off at college, my husband and I were excited to make a wider variety of meals, including trying some new recipes.  And when I say new recipes, everyone knows that means heading to Pinterest, right?

If you’re like me, you’ve had tons of recipes that you pinned who-know-how-long-ago and just haven’t gotten around to making.  You may also have had your share of Pinterest ‘fails’ in the past.

Don’t ask me about the time I tried making oven-baked crispy taco shells.  LOL

Pinterest fail

But by all means, DO ask about the Pinterest wins we’ve had in the last few months. It’s so much fun to try a new recipe and love it!

Do you have a happy food dance, or is it just the ladies in my family?

Need to make hot dogs for a crowd? Use the crock pot!

Need to make hot dogs for a crowd? Use the crock pot!

Super simple.  Yummy.  Feeds a crowd.

You are going to want to hold on to this one.

We hosted our second and final graduation party last weekend. (One week after we geniusly decided to hold a yard sale…not the best decision!)

My eldest son had requested jambalaya for his grad party.  It was delish, but when my currently graduating son requested hot dogs and chips for his party, I was not disappointed at the ease of this menu.

Chipotle Chicken Taquitos for the Freezer

April 1, 2019 by Susan 6 Comments

These chipotle chicken taquitos freeze beautifully and bake up crispy and delicious.  Perfect to pull out for a quick lunch or weeknight dinner.

Sometimes all you need to do is change one little thing to take a recipe over the top.

There are lots of recipes for freezer taquitos out there.  I tried a few and made them several times to have on hand for my husband and I for lunch.  All of the recipes I tried called for a can of chopped green chiles.  And they were good.  Fine.

We liked them, but when I made the switch from green chiles to chipotles— revolutionary!

Easy Sausage Egg Bake

November 19, 2018 by Susan 8 Comments

Simple sausage egg casserole is perfect for brunch (or a quick dinner). Try this recipe with bacon, ham, or veggies, too.

Easy Sausage Egg Bake

Whoever invented the concept of brunch deserves some kind of trophy.

This easy recipe is one of the stars of many-a brunch.  It’s versatile enough that you could add any number of ingredients to customize it just the way you like.  I usually keep it simple with just breakfast sausage and cheese.

But it would be delicious with bacon or ham, for sure.  Any number of veggies sound yummy, too.  Peppers and onions or spinach sound best to me.

Rich and savory and seasoned just perfectly, this casserole is altogether satisfying.
