Food for Thought #37

June 11, 2018 by Susan Leave a Comment

Let's share what we've been perusing this week. From household tips, to spiritual growth...and everything in between!

What matters?  I mean…what really matters?  Sometimes it can be hard to tell, and other times we may think we are on the right track and not even realize that we’re actually adrift.  This week I’m taking time to think about my priorities, asking God to point me in the right direction, and seeking to invest myself in what truly matters.

Here’s what I’ve been reading:

Thinking.  We all do it.  Some more than others.  This week I’ve got a collection of articles that all relate to ‘thinking’ in some way.  A computer that can read your thoughts?  Changing the way you think about things, critical thinking and more.

Here’s what I’m reading:

We did an activity in a class at church not too long ago in which we looked at a page of motivational and inspiring quotes.  As we read through them, we examined if they reflected Biblical wisdom.  I’m sure you’re not surprised to hear, most did not.  It’s no shock to say that our feelings do not mirror truth a whole lot of the time.  God’s wisdom almost always runs counter to what feels right to our fallen human hearts.

This is going to be a ‘current events’ kind of Food for Thought.  News from the 2018 Winter Olympics as well as other moments that made me say ‘Whaaaaat?’ are compiled here for your perusal.  Some will hopefully make you laugh a little, others may make you do a double take and shake your head.

Enjoy!

Do you make resolutions?  New Years gets all the hype surrounding resolutions, but isn’t resolving to be better something we should be doing kind of constantly?  I’ll be honest, I’m not great at resolutions…making them or keeping them.  (Does that mean I should make a resolution to get better at them? …hahaha)

Whether you make resolutions or not, the start of a new year is a good time to think about not just bettering yourself, but what God desires for you.  Reflect on the past, look forward to the future.

Community.  We all like the idea of community, but the reality of sharing our lives with other flawed humans often doesn’t play out the way we imagine.  Several articles came across my feeds this week about this topic, and they motivated me to look through some things I’d saved to find more on the timely reminder.

Here’s what I’ve been reading:
