This was one of the best things our family ever did.

We began studying this as part of our homeschooling, and turned into a whole family study that we invited friends and extended family to join us in. I’ve even used this material in a women’s Bible study at church.

I keep seeing on social media that “some Christians” thought the world was going to end on Saturday. The funny thing is, I never saw any actual Christians posting this. But that’s neither here nor there.

What’s been on my mind is that if someone honestly believes that the world is about to end, they should be telling people. True belief leads to action.

So the real question is: Am I acting on what I say I believe? And are you?

Being the body of Christ starts with (gasp!) talking to each other

I heard a simple yet profound insight into this passage in Corinthians recently…ready?

In order to be a body…the various parts have to be physically present.

Mind blown.

In this age of texting, tweets and messaging…when an email seems like a deeply personal conversation…and a phone call downright intimate—we’ve got some work to do.

Have we disconnected the fruit from the seeds when it comes to a Biblical worldview?

Teaching a Biblical worldview matters! Kids are leaving their faith at astounding rates. How long is it going to take for us to recognize the seeds that produce this fruit & start planting something different?

I heard a story recently about a young man who was out in his father’s watermelon field working, with strict instructions not to eat any of the fruit. Giving in to temptation, he attempted to hide the evidence by burying the remains off in another part of the field. He was sure he’d gotten away with it until his father noticed watermelons growing where they didn’t belong. The evidence was irrefutable. Undeniable. Once the fruit appeared, the son could not hide that he had buried the seeds in just that place.

Rejection hurts, no matter how you spin it

Even though rejection hurts, can’t we find joy in the pain? Can’t our hurt be beautiful too?

Rejection hurts. No matter how you try to spin it, it leaves a wound. When it is someone else being rejected, we are quick to share our platitudes, as genuine as they might be.

Maybe next time.

It’s not you.

You did great.

There’s something better out there for you.

Someday it’ll all make sense.

All potentially true. Yet none heals the sting of not measuring up. Don’t misunderstand me, I am a firm believer that we need people to speak truth into our hearts when the truth doesn’t feel true. But sometimes…it’s also ok to just say, “That sucks. I’d be hurt too.”

Scripture printables remind you of God’s word when you feel overwhelmed. And they can be the best way to encourage a friend who is struggling.

Do you ever feel helpless when a friend is struggling? You’ve hugged, visited, shared a meal, and encouraged. But you can’t be there every minute.

The ladies class I’m a part of on Wednesday nights has been trying to actively encourage a friend who is in the hospital. One of the things we decided to do was to flood her room with the truths of God’s word. I created these Scripture printables. We each wrote an encouraging note around the edges, to remind her of our love, and hung them all around her room.
