Two New Games We’re Loving!

December 19, 2016 by Susan 11 Comments

My family can't get enough of these two new games lately. One of them might be your new favorite, too!

We are a game playing family.  Recently, we’ve gotten two new games that we’ve been playing–a lot– that I want to share with you.  We’ve had a tradition for years that we get a family game for Christmas.  This year, we were kind of impatient and couldn’t wait to play them. (We did buy an expansion for one of the games to wrap and put under the tree…shhhh)

If you’re looking for some new games for Christmas, maybe one of these will fit the bill.

Activities using M&Ms for an ice breaker and guided prayer. Free Printables!

Are you the kind of person who

  1.  Loves ice breaker activities?
  2.  Is looking for a creative way to get to know a group of people?
  3.  Has a Sunday School class that could use a fun prayer time activity?
  4.  Is often negligent and forgets to plan lessons, thus requiring you to come up with activities on the spur of the moment?

I am definitely not a #1, but the other three options describe me pretty well.  This activity was a brain child of #4 above, to be honest.

Awesome Party Games!

June 16, 2016 by Susan Leave a Comment

It's hard to know which party games are winners. These are ones we play over and over.

My family loves games.  I wrote recently about strategy games that we all enjoy.  And that’s a feat, considering that my husband and boys are pretty serious board-gamers (or “dork-gamers” as I affectionately call them).  We have found several games that we all enjoy and not only do we play them frequently, but we just about always have one out somewhere in the house.

Besides strategy games, though, we also love a good party game!  Scattegories, Taboo, Catch Phrase, Apples to Apples and Balderdash have been regulars for a long time.

I have a list of games for you today that you might not have heard of and are going to want to try.  If you click on the pictures of the games, you can read more about them.

The Next Wave of Family Board Games

April 14, 2016 by Susan 17 Comments

Finding family board games that everyone enjoys can be a challenge. This list of strategy games are ones that everyone can get on board with. The world of family games has expanded massively in recent years!

Living life with geek board gamers, these are the games that my gaming guys and mom can all enjoy together. Family board games with strategy and story that you probably haven't heard of.

Maybe you grew up on the same standard set of games I did.  Things like Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit. Maybe you’ve ventured into things like The Settlers of Catan in recent years.  But did you know there are dozens of creative, family friendly games out there to choose from?

If you’re like us, you are always looking for fun things that the whole family can participate in.  Especially as kids hit the teenage years, it can be difficult to engage.

You might be surprised to learn there is so much out there to choose from!
