Food for Thought #14

Let's share what we've been perusing this week. From household tips, to spiritual growth...and everything in between!

Quite a variety of topics this week.  My reading has been all over the map!

I would love to hear what you think, and see what you’ve had open on your desktop this week.

Here’s what I’ve been reading:

Mono-Tasking:  Be More Productive by Doing Less … at Filling the Jars.  I have always prided myself on being a great multi-tasker.  And there’s definitely still a place for that.  However, there’s a lot of wisdom here about really focusing on the task at hand.  I’ve noticed that when I do this, I really do get more done–and beyond that, things get done better!

Tap Into Your Potential … at Son Rise Insights.  Need some motivation?  How about some videos that will give you chill bumps and make you tear up with joy?  If you are in need of some encouragement to follow your dreams this is it!

With the recent feminist marches and pro-life demonstrations, a couple of really interesting videos have come across my feeds.  The first one challenges the oft-quoted statistic that abortions only make up 3% of Planned Parenthood services.  In the second video, people speak with employees at Planned Parenthood about their prenatal services (or lack of them).  I also read the most powerful statement that a woman who is a survivor of an attempted abortion gave.  She shares a quote from the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, who said, “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”  Disgusting.

This Hitler Nonsense… at Regie’s Blog.   Are you as tired as I am of people comparing anyone they don’t like to Hitler?  This is part history lesson and part political commentary.

The Seduction of Satisfaction … at Proverbs 31 Ministries.  Have you ever thought, “I need _______ and then I’ll be satisfied.”?  I have.  Usually before making a series of large or small bad decisions.  This reminds us that temptation is an invitation to get our needs met outside of God’s will.

3 Ways to Not Accept Compliments … at Home Faith Family.  I love manners!  Good manners, specifically.  This little lesson in etiquette is one refresher course we all need.  I know I’ve done all three of these.  How about you?

Sweater Mittens … at Feathering My Nest.  This is the greatest idea!  I have some sweaters that I could do this with right now.  I hardly ever lug out my sewing machine, but this one is worth it, I think.

What have you been reading?

*A brief disclaimer…I found these particular articles read-worthy.  That doesn’t mean that I agree with or advocate everything on the site on which individual posts appear.
