In an effort to achieve my goal of growing my blog and shrinking my body, I’ve decided I really need to move more. Deciding and doing are miles apart, though, aren’t they? Blogging naturally involves a lot of sitting at the computer. Without reminders to get up and move, I get in the ‘zone’ and hours have passed.
I’ve downloaded an app that gives me pop up reminders to get up and move. There are ones specific to fitness, but I’ve chosen to try one called Life Reminders. I’m thinking this could come in handy with reminders to…
- stop at the store
- take medication
- return a call
- check on a kid’s progress with schoolwork
- get ready to leave for a tutoring appointment
- and about a million other things…
So every hour, I get an alert that says, “Get up and move.” And I do.
Get Up and Move Playlist
I created a playlist and when my reminder pops up, I pick a song and get up.
I’ve got a step stool that I have been using to add to the mini-workouts. Throw in some sweet dance moves (sweet dance moves are in the eye of the beholder, you know….which is why my children stay out of the room when they hear the music)… and it’s actually kind of fun.
This would be fantastic to play when you’re cleaning, trying to wake up the kids, or just feel like having an upbeat soundtrack for your day.
I will warn you, it is an eclectic mix of music.
When my sister saw my list of Songs for a Mother’s Heart, she said, “We have different taste in music.” And I am ok with that! Disagreement doesn’t phase me. Just don’t judge without giving a listen. Promise.
You can find the entire playlist on Youtube here: Get Up and Move Playlist
So here’s what gets me moving. What would you add?
If you want to be a real friend, you could ask me what song I grooved to every now and then. So far today, I’m a Dancing Queen who is Making My Own Kind of Music. 🙂
