Pizza intestines are a yucky but delicious way to gross out a crowd. Whether you have zombies on TV, are studying the human body, or just want a spooky snack.

Pizza intestines are a yucky but delicious way to gross out a crowd.

I know I told you this recipe was coming yesterday…so sorry!  Let me tell you, I’m exhausted!  My eldest has been making some changes to his plans for next year (he graduates this spring), so I’ve been in full time academic advisor/homeschool mom mode.  We’ve also been making some college visits, and doing loads of research to get to a decision.  None yet!

So with no further ado…I give you…pizza intestines!

This is so icky.  And so easy.  And tasty, too!

Whether you’ve got zombies on the TV, are studying the human body, or just want an ooky snack (if you’ve got boys, you get this possibility) – intestines pizza may be for you!

I made this as an appetizer, but it could be a main dish or a side just as easily.

Pizza Intestines

You can use any pizza dough you like.  I was coming off of a 2-day Harry Potter movie marathon with my house full of kids, teens, and adults.  I took the path of least resistance…in this case:  pizza dough in a can.

Pizza intestines are a yucky but delicious way to gross out a crowd.

Cut your dough into strips.  (Lesson I learned: slightly wider strips worked waaayyy better).

Spread a very small amount of pizza sauce down the center of your strip (you could add more if you don’t intend for it to be finger food).

Add mini-pepperonis (or any toppings you like) and shredded mozzerella.

Pinch edges together to make a long tube and lay on baking sheet (I’m using a baking stone).  Wind the tubes to form “intestines”, pinching edges of tubes together to join.

I spooned a small amount of sauce in a couple of places on top of my pizza intestines, and sprinkled with a little extra cheese.

Bake at 400 until brown and bubbly (about 20-25 minutes).  Let cool long enough to be able to pull apart and devour.
