Food for Thought #30

November 9, 2017 by Susan 2 Comments

Let's share what we've been perusing this week. From household tips, to spiritual growth...and everything in between!

I went to a blogging conference a few weeks ago.  I LOVE conferences.  Workshops.  Key note speakers. Break-out sessions.  {Swoon}  And the thing about conferences is that it’s almost never totally new information that you’re getting.  It’s the reminders that I love.  Renewing convictions and re-lighting fires.

And that’s kind of how these articles are.  Probably nothing you’ve never heard.  But enjoy the reminders.

Tangible ways to show your love to your wife. Let her know she's the apple of your eye

Your wife knows you love her.

She also knows that finding ways to show that to her is not always easy for you.  But the thing about marriage is that it’s really easy to drift apart if you’re not consciously working to draw together.

So to help the fellas out, I put the word out to my fantastic readers and compiled a list of 100 ways that you can make sure that your lady knows that she’s your one and only.  And even if you’re already doing a GREAT job of showing your love, more ideas are always helpful!

Maybe it would be cool if we watched movies without 58 ‘F’ Words

November 2, 2017 by Susan Leave a Comment

Being able to filter content in the movies we watch is a game changer!

When your kids get to be teenagers, it gets easier and harder to do things you both enjoy.

Easier, because they’re older and can do more.  And harder, because they are now their own person with interests that may not match up with yours.

Watching movies is something that most families can do together…if you can agree on a film.

My youngest casts a wide net when it comes to movies he enjoys.  He’s definitely into the superhero flicks, but also enjoys stories with a slightly less predictable plot, a little out of the mainstream.

Unfortunately, many of these films are full of sex and language that we’re not comfortable with.

Do you bake with your kids?

October 30, 2017 by Susan 4 Comments

Baking with kids isn't just fun, it brings lots of benefits.

Do you worry that you’re not doing everything you should in the parenting arena?  If not, my first question is…are you lying?

After all, we all have our own variety of parenting fears.

But one question I think all parents ask themselves is, “Am I doing enough?”  And the answer to all of our worries is:  No, we probably should be doing more.

Right?  But that doesn’t mean that we’re not doing enough.

And some of the simplest ways we can improve our parenting may look overly simple.  Things like:  baking with your kids.

Deepen your faith and have fun: Learn how Biblical holidays point to Christ

October 26, 2017 by Susan Leave a Comment

Perfect for family devotions, homeschool, or even a Sunday School class. Loads of activities for all ages about Biblical holidays & how they point to Christ.

Deepen your faith and have fun: Learn how Biblical holidays point to Christ

This was one of the best things our family ever did.

We began studying this as part of our homeschooling, and turned into a whole family study that we invited friends and extended family to join us in.  I’ve even used this material in a women’s Bible study at church.

I love it! (and can I say, I am not affiliated with this company at all…just love the product!)

100 Puns to Make You Roll Your Eyes, Groan, and Shake Your Head

100 Puns to Make You Roll Your Eyes, Groan, and Shake Your Head

My eldest son really enjoys a good pun.  On a road trip with his cousin, he found lists of puns to read to help keep her awake while she drove.  I think what really kept her awake was the shaking of her head as she begged him to stop.

This one’s for all of the pun lovers out there.

Enjoy!
