A collection of decadent chocolate recipes to satisfy your deepest craving.
Roald Dahl’s descriptions of chocolate in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are sumptuous and delicious. If you, like me, can feel where Augustus Gloop was coming from when he said of Willy Wonka’s chocolate river, “Gosh, I need a bucket to drink it properly.”
Well, you’re in the right place.
Let’s jump in that chocolate river together, ready? Hold your breath, make a wish, count to three.
1, 2, 3…..
Basic Chocolate Cakes
These are my two go-to chocolate cake recipes and my favorite chocolate frosting. The cakes are both rich and delicious and (I think) best made with the Special Dark Cocoa if you can find it.
**[By the way, have you heard the tip that adding a small bit of coffee to chocolate enhances the chocolate flavor without adding a coffee flavor? I’m not here to argue that, but I will say that it seems a lot of folks go a little overboard on the coffee. (And I loooove me some coffee). They always say, “You can’t taste the coffee at all.” I beg to differ. (And again…coffee lover here).
Point being: In the following recipes, I add a tiny fraction of the coffee (brewed or granules) that is called for. You do whatever you think your family would enjoy. Please don’t be afraid to add a dash of the coffee…just maybe start small.]**
Moist Chocolate Cake … at Foodess This cake is very, very moist…no lie.
Dark Chocolate Cake … at Shugary Sweets Yummy and dark.
Ina’s Beatty’s Chocolate Frosting … at Food Network I’ve never made the cake recipe given here, but the icing is sublime. It’s equally good with or without the egg yolk, btw.
Triple Chocolate Bundt Cake … An easy and delicious chocolate bundt cake that is perfect to bring to a potluck, make for a coffee date, after school snack, or just because.
Chocolate Cakes with a little Extra Something
Whoopie Pie Cake … at Cookies & Cups
Chocolate Mousse Cake … at I Heart Eating
The Ultimate Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake … at The Recipe Rebel
Low-Sugar Chocolate Cake … at Heavenly Homemakers In case you’re looking for a slightly healthier option. The first time I made this, my family didn’t care for the taste of the whole wheat flour in it. I’ve made it since with all-purpose flour and it’s been a big hit.
One Minute Chocolate Mug Cake … at Chocolate Covered Katie Looking for something on a smaller scale…this is yummy! Don’t miss the link to the Chocolate Fudge Frosting she gives…mmmm. And as with the above recipe, I just used regular old all-purpose flour in this.
Chocolate Pies to Die For
Chocolate Marshmallow Cream Pie … This light, fluffy chocolate cream pie is made with marshmallows and tastes like a sweet candy bar. Easy to make and no-bake!
French Silk Pie … at The Pioneer Woman I’ve shared this favorite before. This has become somewhat of a Christmas Eve tradition at my house. You must have fresh, whipped cream to go with it (in my humble opinion).
Mississippi Mud Pie … at Sugar & Soul
Chocolate Fudge Pie … at Oh My Goodness
Chocolate Ganache Tarts … at Lemon Tree Dwelling
Chocolate Cookies and Brownies
Chocolate Kiss Cookies … at I Heart Eating
Chocolate Volcano Cookies … at Miss in the Kitchen
Brownie Cookies … at I Heart Eating
Triple Layer Mint Brownies … at The Sparrow’s Home
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Brownies … at The Beeroness This recipe includes stout, which I wouldn’t like (since I hate the taste of beer). But the idea of the soft brownies with fresh, juicy berries, and snap of the hardened chocolate….mmmm. That sounds delicious. Use your favorite brownie recipe instead, if you’re in the same boat as me.
German Chocolate Brownies … at Julie’s Eats & Treats
Blank Canvas Brownies … at The Sparrow’s Home These are my go-to brownies. I would use this recipe in both of the above, adding the toppings after baking.
Chocolate Candies
Brigadeiros … at Living Sweet Moments These treats are made with dulce de leche, which I hadn’t considered mixing with chocolate like this. They look ah-mazing!
Trisha’s Slow Cooker Chocolate Candy … at The Food Network I made this not in the slow cooker and it turned out great. Nuts and chocolate, what’s bad about that?!
Easy Homemade Mallo Cups … at How Sweet It Is
Chocolate Odds & Chocolate Ends
Healthy Chocolate Mousse … at The Sparrow’s Home My kids still don’t know what this is made with…and they love it!
Death by Chocolate Icebox Cake … at Life, Love & Sugar
Baked Chocolate Hazelnut Doughnut Holes … at Hungry Couple
Healthy (But You Wouldn’t Know It) Chocolate Pancakes … at The Sparrow’s Home I like these best with just some lightly sweetened whipped cream.
Warm Chocolate Soother … at Heavenly Homemakers We call this “liquid brownie” at my house. It’s the closest you’ll probably get to swimming in Willy Wonka’s chocolate river with Augustus Gloop.
Nigella’s Chocohotopots … at The Cooking Channel Love these. Some people call them Chocolate Lava Cakes, and they must be eaten warm. Vanilla ice cream optional, but recommended!
Two Minute Hot Fudge Sauce … at The Sparrow’s Home This is so easy and decadent.
Not Completely Chocolate
If you’re looking for a recipe that has chocolate, but is not all chocolate…here ya go!
Homemade Twix Bars … at I Heart Naptime This cookie/candy combo is addictive!
Yellow Cakes in Jars with Chocolate Ganache Frosting … at The Sparrow’s Home I like making these little cakes as a quick dessert. They’re adorable in these little jars.
Cookie Dough Frosting .. at Busy Mom’s Helper This frosting is divine! I like it best on a chocolate cupcake.
Oooey Gooey Triple Chip Skillet Cookie … at The Sparrow’s Home Mix and match your favorite chocolates in this warm delight.

This is a good round up idea. Lot’s of chocolate lovers out there. We don’t always do a lot for Valentine’s. My husband ordered me chocolate dipped strawberries this year.
